2008-08-08 00:32:43 - by Marc B
The N95 looks like it is going be taken down from it's almighty reign at the top of the phone market. Leaving aside the touch screen fanatic, iPhone loving fanboys there is still a market for people who want a phone to have tactile non-qwerty buttons. Samsung feels relatively confident that they are going to take out the N95. With the spec list by far being better on the Samsung why wouldn't it? The fact that is being forgotten is that the N95 has been released for quite some time now and the i8510 has not been released.

How about Samsung pick on someone their own size and take on the long awaited n96?

NEWS: Scent Emitting Advertising is Finally Here     [ Category - Technology News ]

2008-07-28 23:18:46 - by Marc B
Trials have started this month in Japan for scent emitting advertising. These advertising booths or posters consist of a 42 inch LCD and a scent sprayer that emits odors that correspond with images on the screen. The idea is to get the prospective customer's attention and and provide them with a nearby coupon book for the various shops that are being advertised. How long until they are doing this with normal televisions in households leaving you almost helpless when those fast food adds come on around dinner time?

NEWS: HItachi Announces a 5TB Spinning Hard Drive     [ Category - PC Hardware ]

Just when you thought that solid state drives were catching up to the spinners it is time to think again. Hitachi have informed us that will be releasing a 10TB spinner into the retail market by 2010. They make this claim saying that they will be using a new technology called current CPP-GMR, perpendicular-to-the-plane giant magnetoresistance. Quite a mouthful hey. It is said that the human brain has a minimum capacity of 10TB so what happens when we exceed this amount on one small device? Judgment day is looking more and more possible each day.

NEWS: ACCC Puts a Hold on the Paypal/Ebay Saga     [ Category - Technology News ]

2008-06-27 00:01:06 - by Marc B
In case you were not aware, eBay was attempting to force all Australian eBay users to make all payments via the Paypal gateway. Many users complained about this and contacted the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCCC). eBay has now confirmed that the scheduled 15th July implementation has been postponed due to an investigation by the ACCC in regards to this proposal.

Whilst Paypal is a much more secure method of transaction it should not be a compulsory means of transaction as this may been seen as a revenue raising venture. In fairness eBay shoppers should be made aware of the benefits of using Paypal and the risks they take in not using Paypal and the decision left up to them.
