Recent talks by eBay suggest that they will be trialling a mandatory PayPal transaction rule in Australia at some stage in the near future. Users will be forced to link their bank accounts and credit cards to a PayPal account and even cash on delivery sales will be processed through PayPal. Some consumers are not bothered by the change as they are already using the service but for those who don't it may be rubbing them up the wrong way.The ACCC have declined to comment on the situation as many consumers are questioning the reduction of payment options of the buyers and the forcing of them to pay commission to both eBay and PayPal. Whilst the complaints will be many there are positives that can come from using PayPal including some sort of protection on your purchase. Statistic also show that PayPal users a four times less likely to have any issues or disputes with their purchases. The following categories have been exempt from the ruling: cars, boats, motorcycles, aircraft, trucks (commercial), trailers, caravans, services, real estate and businesses. Jump to article

IOGEAR has released a portable media player that is a little different to the conventional definition of portable. IOGEAR's Portable Media Player does not come with any screens or batteries or even any ability to use on the run. Despite this the gadget would be considered quite useful in a lot of circumstances. It gives the user the ability to copy media files onto the hard drive sized device and then plug this into any television. The device supports the following video codecs; AVI, DivX, XviD, MP3, MPEG-2. These are the most common storage formats for most media junkies and this device makes it that one bit easier to take you favourite shows to friends houses and to watch when traveling. For those of you that were doubting the creation of a phone integrated into a watch, doubt no more. This fully functional camera phone has been adapted into a watch body. This watch phone comes complete with external and internal displays, GSM Quadband comptibility, 1.3 megapixel camera, bluetooth and many more of the standard features of a mobile phone today. Unfortunately the release is most probably going to be about 10 years too late as the amount of consumers that are going to want this device in todays society is going to be minimal. Even if purchased for novelty value, this value would surely die pretty fast. Jump to article

There is just over 3 weeks to go until the release of the greatly anticipated Grand theft Auto IV. The game was scheduled to be released last year and was postponed several times but the gaming community has been assured the scheduled April 29th release is here to stay and we will have access to this game on that day. Speculations suggest that this game will easily take the game of the year as it's prequels so easily did. Electronic Arts even seemed that confident of the games success that they made lucrative attempts at purchasing Take Two, the company behind GTA IV. Unfortunately for EA they were not successful with their bids and Take Two obviously knew exactly what they have up their sleeve. From the various screen shots and trailers available on the web the game seems to be destined for big things. We can only hope that the wait was worth it and look forward to many, many hours of havoc, destruction and ruthless fun. Jump to article

There has been much talk over whether or not Microsoft is going to take the plunge and adopt their direct competitors technology to provide their users with the ability to watch high definition content on Blu Ray discs. All reports from Microsoft representatives are denying the speculations leaving the xbox community with not many choices if they want to keep up with the times. Many people agree that something has to be done if the xbox console wants to stay competitive with their direct rival, the almighty PS3. There have been talks of price drops to boost sales but this doesn't help those who already own the console and leaves them questioning their loyalty. Pretty soon everyone is going to want to enjoy the amazing quality of a high definition movie at home and they are going to be left with no choice other than purchase an additional player, many of whom would purchase an xbox external Blu Ray drive if it were available. There is also the other question, How long is Blu Ray going to last? With talk that flash memory may soon be taking over the high def video market maybe xbox will be able to prevail and come out on top. Who knows? Only time will tell. Jump to article

The latest sequel in the Gran Turismo saga is the fifth in the series of market leading driving simulation games. For all those die hard fans there has been a so called 'demo' released featuring 70 cars and 6 tracks, a mere snippet of the full version. As this is only a portion of the game the price has been reduced to $59.95 AUD.From the many screen shots available it would seem that when played through a high definition tv the game may almost seem photographic. The realism of the cars and detail of the background is definitely first class and will set a new benchmark for all driving games to come. Considering the fact that this version is not the final release it would be right to say that GT5 will not disappoint. Jump to article

Nokia's new N810 tablet is turning heads and their latest WiMAX release is going to leave holes in the pockets of many a Nokia fanboy. The only thing that is going to be asked is; why isn't a phone integrated into this device? It is a question that many people will be asking especially considering the fact that they are one of the leading phone developers in the world so they definitely have the technological ability to do so. Despite this setback the N810 is a feature packed little device but I think it would have attracted a much larger portion of the market had it been a phone as well. Jump to article

This latest invention involves the implantation of a thin electronic screen inside the body that is able to display black and white images through your skin. The small fuel cell that will power the device is powered by the blood using glucose and oxygen to create energy. The device is said to have bluetooth capabilities giving it the ability to communicate with devices outside the body after installation. This unique gadget will have a touchscreen display giving a person the usability of many functions. With the addition of sensor technology it can be used to provide vital health information to a person and would be a major step forward in the medical industry. This along with thought process controlled devices is a definite sign the sooner rather than later the idea of a cyborg is going to become reality. Scary isn't it? Jump to article

For most of us the words Silicon Nanophotonics would just go in one ear out the other without any chance of deciphering some sort of meaning for the words. But for the guys at IBM whose job it is to get this technology rolling it is another story. It seems like they are using microscopic beams of light to communicate between cores within a multi-core processor to remove the hassles involved with running the signals down a copper wire. I can't wait to see these chips in action and the way things are heading it shouldn't be too much longer now. Jump to article
